The Utah Department of Health (awardee) partnered with the Wyoming Department of Health (sub-awardee) to submit a successful cross-state application for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality (ERASE MM) funding in 2019. The funding established a cross-state maternal mortality review committee in 2020, with the first Wyoming maternal deaths reviewed in 2021. Seven Wyoming representatives joined the long-standing Utah Perinatal Mortality Review Committee. Wyoming representatives attend quarterly committee meetings to review maternal deaths from Utah and Wyoming. The committee reviews all pregnancy associated deaths. In 2021, eight Wyoming maternal deaths were reviewed.
