Brief Overview of State MMR or PAMR

Michigan Maternal Mortality Surveillance’s (MMMS) medical committee was established in 1950 and the injury committee in 2004. The Injury Committee has 18 members and the Medical Committee has 26 members. In 2010, Michigan had 114,717 live births and 20 pregnancy-related deaths. The goal of MMMS is to review all pregnancy-associated deaths in Michigan in order to develop recommendations and strategies for reducing mortality and morbidity in women statewide.
